Privacy policy

Bucketmail collects no data.

Bucketmail has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your mail goes directly between your device and services you control. This policy explains the details.

Effective date: 29 September 2026. Applies to Bucketmail for iPhone, iPad and Mac (bundle ID com.kineticodeai.mail), published by KinetiCode AI (“we”, “us”).

Summary

  • No data collected. We don't collect, receive, store or sell any personal data. We have no servers that your mail or settings pass through.
  • No tracking. Bucketmail contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code and no third-party SDKs. It doesn't track you across apps or websites.
  • Your mail stays yours. Messages are stored on your device and in your own Amazon Web Services (AWS) account. They're sent through the SMTP server or Resend account you configure.
  • Credentials stay in the Keychain. AWS keys, SMTP passwords and Resend API keys are stored in the system Keychain on your device.
  • Calendar is write-only. Bucketmail can add events you confirm, but it can't read your calendar.

What we collect

Nothing. KinetiCode AI doesn't collect any information from or about you through Bucketmail: no email content, addresses, contacts, usage data, identifiers, location, diagnostics or anything else. The app has no user accounts and doesn't contact any server run by KinetiCode AI.

This matches the app's App Store privacy label (“Data Not Collected”) and its privacy manifest, which declares no collected data types and no tracking domains.

Data stored on your device

To work as a mail client, Bucketmail stores the following in its private app container on your device. It stays there unless you share it.

DataPurpose
Email messages (.eml files) and their attachmentsShowing your mail in Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Archive and Trash.
A local database (subject, sender, recipients, date, a text snippet, read state, folder)Message lists, unread counts and search.
A list of already-downloaded S3 object keysSo each message is downloaded only once.
The in-app address book (names and email addresses)Autocomplete when you write a message. It's filled from people you send to and contacts you add, and it's separate from the system Contacts app, which Bucketmail doesn't access.
Account settings (account names, bucket and prefix, From address, SMTP server, port and username, send method)Connecting to your mail services. These settings contain no secrets.
Preferences (default AWS Region, fetch-on-launch, automatic check interval)Remembering your settings.

Like other app data, this may be included in device backups you make, such as iCloud Backup, Finder or Time Machine. Those backups are under your control and Apple's terms. Bucketmail doesn't sync through iCloud or any other service.

Credentials

Your AWS access key ID and secret access key, SMTP passwords and Resend API keys are stored in the system Keychain on your device, never in plain files. They're used only to connect to the services they belong to (see below). We never receive them.

Network connections

Bucketmail connects only to services you configure, directly from your device:

  • Amazon S3 in your own AWS account, to list and download the mail Amazon SES has delivered to your bucket, signed with your AWS credentials. Bucketmail only reads. It never uploads to or deletes from S3.
  • Your SMTP server (for example Amazon SES, Resend or another provider), over TLS, to send messages you write.
  • The Resend API (api.resend.com), over HTTPS, if you choose Resend API sending for an account.

These providers process your data under their own terms and privacy policies, as part of your relationship with them. KinetiCode AI isn't involved in that relationship.

Remote content in email. HTML email can include remote images, which senders often use as tracking pixels. Bucketmail blocks all remote content by default and never runs JavaScript in messages. If you tap Load on a message, that message's remote images are fetched from the sender's servers, which can then see your IP address and when you opened it. Links you tap open in your default web browser.

Calendar access

If you use Add to Calendar, Bucketmail asks for write-only access to your calendars. With it, Bucketmail can save the event you review and confirm to your default calendar. It can't read, list or change your existing events. You can revoke access at any time under Privacy & Security → Calendars, in Settings on iPhone and iPad or System Settings on the Mac.

Files and attachments

Bucketmail reads files only when you pick them, for example to attach them to a message or to import a config.json. When you preview, save or share an attachment, Bucketmail writes a temporary copy to its own temporary folder so the system can open it.

Apple diagnostics

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may give us aggregated, anonymised crash and usage statistics through App Store Connect. That's controlled by you and governed by Apple's privacy policy. Bucketmail itself sends no diagnostics.

Deleting your data

  • A message: move it to Trash, then delete it from Trash. It's removed from your device only. The original stays in your S3 bucket.
  • An account: in Setup, choose Delete Account and Local Mail. This removes its downloaded mail and its Keychain entries from the device.
  • Everything: delete the app. That removes its container from your device.
  • Mail in AWS: it's in your AWS account, so manage or delete it there, for example with an S3 lifecycle rule.

Because we hold no data about you, there's nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on our side. You're still welcome to contact us with any privacy question.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics, advertising or third-party fonts or scripts. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to operate and secure the site. We don't use them to identify or track visitors.

Children

Bucketmail isn't directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Bucketmail handles data, we'll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. We won't start collecting data without saying so clearly here and in the App Store privacy label.
